The Smith & Wesson Mountain Gun Series has been running off and on since 1989. Mountain Guns feature tapered 4" barrels and roundbutt gripframes to reduce the weight of the various Smith & Wesson revolvers. Most of the Mountain Guns are larger N-Frames in 41 Magnum, 44 Magnum, 45 ACP, and 45 Colt. In the early 90's, Smith & Wesson did a run of 7 shot L-Frame 686 Mountain Guns that are now highly sought after. We decided to do another production run, but this time with the more traditional 6 shot cylinder. This setup really makes for a great all-around 357 magnum revolver. It combines the strength of the L-Frame with the looks and handling of the classic Model 66 K-frame. If you happen to get your hands on one of these, you will be very happy with the results.
